Week 2: English Lesson Plan using Hyper Doc

I learnt over the years that when teachers begin to make their students responsible for their learning, the learning experiences in the classroom will not only make an impact but also become fun adventures for them. In order to achieve this, we need to keep up with the wide range of resources and the use of technology.

One of such tools for teaching and learning I discovered recently during a training on the use of technology in the classroom is HyperDoc.  A HyperDoc is a digital document—such as a Google Doc—where all components of a learning cycle have been pulled together into one central hub. Within a single document, students are provided with hyperlinks to all of the resources they need to complete that learning cycle. A few of the benefits of using a HyperDoc in the classroom include:

  • A HyperDoc offers a solution by taking care of the direct instruction part of a lesson and offering a lot more as well.
  • More face-to-face interaction. A good HyperDoc runs itself, allowing students to work through it without needing you to guide them through each step. This allows for more face to face engagement with your students.
  • Multimodal opportunities. Because it is digital, a HyperDoc allows us to include all kinds of multimedia.
Here is a sample of my HyperDoc lesson plan, I hope you find it useful. Click here to view.
